Paloma Words

I need to write down more of what she's saying because each day is so unique and her vocabulary and the way she phrases things changes so quickly.

We were at the park today. I asked her if she was cold. "I okay. I okay Daddy."

Last night we were sitting by the fire. Paloma was making stuff for us at her play kitchen.

"I make you tea." Oh, I know that's not what she said, I need to write this down.

Zoey asked her to get Daddy something, a coffee or beer. Paloma kept saying to me, "buueeer". She had a unique way of saying beer that was a cross between beer and bear. It was so cute.

Sometimes if I ask if she needs to do something. Do you need to potty? "I did." Telling me she has already gone, thank you Daddy.

Austin, March 2013

We flew down to Austin for a quick visit on the last day of February.

The first night in town we had dinner with Granddad and Aunt Betty (now known as Grammy Betty).

Friday we went for a drive into the hill country, south through Johnson City and Fredericksburg before arriving at Enchanted Rock State Park for a hike. It was a nice day though a little windy near the top. The hike wasn't very long but it was nice to get out and then have a little picnic of turkey sandwiches on the granite.

A long drive out with a short stop at Cooper's barbecue (disappointing). We ended the day with a visit to Great Granddad's chickens, cocktails and looking at old photos of the property at 4000 Balcones (especially how much the big oak tree in the backyard had grown in 60 some years), then picked up some Fresa's Chicken for dinner.

Paloma was either getting sick or having an allergic reaction and by this time of the trip her nose and eyes were constantly running. Poor kid. But she was still super excited for Mimi and Granddad and Great Granddad and chickens and.....PEACOCKS!

We visited the peacocks on Saturday morning. "help! help!" Paloma does a good impression of them.

During an extended nap, Zoey and I struck out for the town. First Torchy's (a bit disappointing which is sad), then over to South Congress which was loaded with people and pretty overwhelming. We got home just as Paloma was waking up from a nap.

We left her that night eating noodles and hanging out with Mimi and Granddad who then couched up and watched Happy Feet. Insert photo here of lounging Granddad, Paloma and cat staring the boob tube.

Zoey and I headed off to East Side King at Hole in the WAll. Paul Qui's first "brick and mortar" establishment. The place is dirty, the music is annoying, the people are tatted and pierced and so hipster cool that it's annoying (though they are very nice). But the food was delicious. Pork buns, fried beets, ramen, Tara-ga (sp?) - basically fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce.

We tried to stop into Uchiko casually and just sit at the bar. The bar was about 4 deep when we rolled up at 9pm. I guess we're not in Boulder anymore.
